Diver Certification In Australia

All dive operators in Australia need to sight your "C" Card (Certification Card) or qualification papers prior to diving. If you do not have it with you, you will not be able to dive.

I'm Not A PADI Or SSI Certified Diver!

If you have been certified through another organisation other than PADI or SSI, check below to see if you are Open Water Equivalent.  If your certification is shown you are able to participate in any of the trips listed on our site.


For the PADI Advanced Course or SSI Advanced Course you will need to have one of the following certifications to qualify:

  •     ACUC: Open Water
  •     ANIS:    One Star Junior or One Star Diver
  •     AUSI: Level 2 Diver
  •     BSAC: Ocean Diver or Club Diver or Sport Diver
  •     CMAS: One Star Diver
  •     FFESSM: Niveau I
  •     FIAS: Base Avanzato
  •     IDEA: Open Water
  •     IDD: Open Water Diver
  •     IDF: Two Star Diver (with Alternate Air Source Ascent and 50 yard compass swim)
  •     NASDS: Open Water
  •     NAUI: Scuba Diver or Open Water One
  •     PDIC: Open Water
  •     SAA: Club Diver
  •     SSI: Open Water Diver
  •     SNMP NICEAU: Level 1
  •     SSAC: 3rd Class Diver
  •     YMCA: Bronze Star or Open Water or Scuba Diver


For the PADI or SSI Rescue Diver Course you will need to have at least one of the following certifications to qualify:

  •     ACUC: Advanced Diver
  •     ANIS: Two Star Diver
  •     AUSI: Level 3 Diver
  •     BSAC: Sport Diver with documentation of 20 dives showing experience in deep and navigation
  •     CMAS: One Star Diver plus a minimum of 9 logged dives with 1 deep and 1 navigation
  •     FFESSM: Niveau II or Brevet De Moniteur Auxiliaire or Brevet De Plonge Subaquitique
  •     FIAS ARA: Estensione
  •     IDEA: Advanced Open Water Diver
  •     IDD: Advanced Diver
  •     IDF: Two Star Diver with Alternate Air Source Ascent and Underwater Compass Navigation dive
  •     NASDS: Advanced Open Water Diver or Specialty Diver
  •     NAUI: Openwater II, Advanced Scuba Diver and Specialty courses
  •     PDIC: Advanced Open Water Diver
  •     SAA: Club Diver with documentation of 20 dives showing experience in deep & navigation
  •     SSI: Advance Open Water Diver and Specialty course
  •     SNMP: Niveau 1-Equipier & Niveau 2
  •     SSAC: 3rd Class Diver with documentation of 20 dives showing experience in deep & navigation).
  •     UK Military Diver or US Navy Diver: Second Class (DV2 shown on card) or Diver First Class
  •     YMCA: Open Water II or Silver Star


For the PADI or SSI Dive Master Course you will need to have at least one of the following certifications to qualify:

  •     ACUC: Rescue Diver
  •     ANIS: Salvataggio Sub
  •     AUSI:    Rescue
  •     BSAC: Dive Leader, Advanced Diver
  •     CMAS: Two Star Diver
  •     FFESSM: Niveau III or Niveau IV
  •     FIAS: Salvamento Sub and Certificate of CPR
  •     IDEA: Rescue Diver
  •     IDD: Rescue Diver or Divemaster
  •     IDF: Three Star Diver
  •     NASDS: Emergency Management
  •     NAUI: Diving Rescue Techniques or Scuba Rescue Diver
  •     PDIC: Dive Supervisor
  •     SAA: Dive Leader or Dive Supervisor (with rescue certfication)
  •     SSI: Stress Rescue Techniques or Master Diver
  •     SNMP: Niveau 2 - Equipier or Niveau 3
  •     SSAC: 3rd Class Diver with separate diver rescue certification or 2nd Class Diver


Lost Cards

If you have misplaced, lost or had yours stolen, please replace it prior to diving. The cost of replacement varies with each agency. It is a good idea to have an extra certification card. For more information, contact the issuing agency.
