  • Michaelmas Reef is 10km long with a sandy cay
  • Giant clams are the most common delightful feature of the reef
  • Clams can be seen in the shallow or if you dive to 20m
  • Walls, swim-throughs, gullies, small caves and overhangs are found in the area
  • There are often whitetip sharks also
  • Blue-spotted rays and sea cucumbers are common on the sandy floors
  • Schools of damsels and fusiliers can be seen all over the coral
  • On the sand near the beach you may experience fish and small sharks "biting" at your heels, but they are only trying to catch shrimp and other small animal
  • Explore the bommies and spot batfish, cleaner stations, nudibranchs, crayfish, turtle weed clumps
