For an Adventure diving experience the best option is a flexible itinerary. The following is an approximate guide:
Itinerary (20 - 22 Dives)
- Day 1: 4 Dives. The diving begins! Your adventure diving begins along the fabulous Ribbon Reefs. From Pixie Reef we travel to beautiful Pixie Pinnacle then to the world famous Cod Hole to enjoy diving with the resident family of Potato Cod, Big Moray Eels, Giant Napoleon Wrasse, Coral Trout and Red Bass. Tonight you may choose to experience your introductory night dive. At approximately 2200hrs we depart for Osprey Reef.
- Day
2: 3-4 Dives. At the remote Osprey Reef we have 3 days of Coral Sea diving - 30 metre plus visibility and 1000 metre vertical walls, and incredible pelagic fish. Tonight join in our night dive and search for the rare Flashlight Fish.
- Day 3: 3-4 Dives. North Horn, a spectacular dive site on Osprey Reef has the most reliable sharks in Australia: Grey Whalers, White Tip Reefsharks, Silvertip Whalers, seasonal Hammerheads, Schools of Barracuda, Dog Tooth Tuna and Cod. At Osprey Reef you may participate in our research projects involving shark populations and the deep sea nautilus.
Day 4: 2-3 Dives. Ideally this is our third day at Osprey Reef. Our years of experience at Osprey have given us an incredible array of dives including drift dives, shark, tuna and manta cleaning stations, and we will choose the best dive to suit the conditions. Weather conditions and circumstance may require us to depart Osprey for Lizard Island, and this is also an excellent itinerary option, as described below. When on the Great Barrier Reef we dive spectacular reef gardens and your marine biologist will introduce you to more of our study sites. To finish off the day we venture to Lizard Island and if you are feeling energetic you may wish to explore the island, beach, forest or just relax. An evening barbecue ashore will be waiting for all to relish.
- Day
5: 4 Dives. We head south down the Ribbon Reefs to enjoy dive sites including Clam Gardens and Steve's Bommie, renowned for their variety of plate, branching and massive corals, giant clams and fish life. A night dive tops off your enjoyment of this beautiful reef environment.
- Day 6: 2 Dives. For the final day of your dive adventure we dive the coral gardens of the Agincourt
Reef area. We then have approximately 4 hours of steaming to Port Douglas - time to contemplate the fantastic underwater experiences we have had. Its time to disembark at approximately 1630 hrs.
