Live Aboards - Mike Ball 4 Day Coral Sea

On this fantastic 4 day itinerary you are able to dive the magnificent coral walls that drop down 1000’s of metres at Osprey Reef on the Coral Sea. It also takes in the turquoise chain of Ribbon Reefs with pristine coral gardens, excellent for macro and fish photography. The trip allows for 14 dives over 3.5 dive days, either from the vessel or from the two inflatables.

SpoilSport is one of the best appointed liveaboard vessels operating to the Coral Sea & Ribbon Reefs. The 30metre vessel cruises at 13 knots and accommodates 29 passengers in fully air conditioned comfort. The massive dive deck is superbly set up for diving.

There are 4 accommodation styles:

• Premium cabin - double bed with private bathroom & oceanviews
• Standard cabin - twin beds with private bathroom & oceanviews
• Club cabin - twin bunk-beds with private bathroom
• Budget cabin - twin bunk-beds with shared bathroom

Itinerary

• Thursday: Check in & departure. Prior to 4:00pm guests can check in at the Mike Ball office, located at 143 Lake Street. Board SpoilSport at 7pm at Marlin Jetty. Cruise overnight to the magnificent Ribbon Reefs
• Friday: Dive sites on Ribbon Reef #3 - Flare Point, Joani’s Joy, Fish Market. Night dive where decorator crabs, egg cowry shells, moray eels and crayfish are just a few of the creatures you can find. Cruise 100 miles overnight to Osprey Reef in the Coral Sea.

• Saturday: Enjoy 40metre visibility with spectacular steep walls disappearing to 1000metres at Osprey Reef on the Coral Sea. Witness the resident shark population including grey whalers, whitetip reef sharks, silvertips and hammerheads.
• Sunday: Dive sites on Ribbon Reef #10 - Cod Hole, Snake Pitt, Stepping Stones. On Sunday afternoon passengers have the opportunity to explore Lizard Island - Climb ‘Cooks Look’ at Lizard Island where Captain Cook searched for safe passage through the reef!
• Monday: Head for home! Breakfast on board and transfer to Lizard Island. Spectacular low level reef flight back to Cairns over the magnificent Great Barrier Reef. Return at approximately 11 am for courtesy transfer to city hotels.

Weather & natural events may cause sites to improve or deteriorate over time and as such Mike Ball reserve the right to vary this itinerary in order to provide the best quality diving

Cancellation

• More than 90 days prior to date of departure: forfeit A$100
• Less than 90 days: forfeit 30% of trip fee
• Less than 60 days: forfeit 50% of trip fee
• Less than 30 days: forfeit 100% of trip fee

Note: Flying After Diving

The surface interval between the night dive completed at 9:00pm and flying at 9:00am is 12 hours, which meets the DAN minimum requirement of 12 hours. An additional safety feature is that Skytrans Airlines endeavours to fly at or below l000ft, weather and flight conditions permitting. Some aircraft are pressurised to sea level.
