Pro Dive Cairns Instructor Development Course (IDC) is a two-week program combining a mixture of classroom academic modules, training in the pool & two days are spent on Fitzroy Island.

After the IDC it is highly recommended that you attend an extra 2 day program called the IDC plus. This is a course designed by Pro Dive and is unique to their IDC training program. It offers additional training in classroom and pool presentation techniques that prepare you for the Instructor Evaluation (IE) exam.

During the IDC program Pro Dive also run an "equipment & equipment sales" course. You also have the opportunity to further your education by completing the Emergency First Aid Instructor Course or other specialties. These can be done before or after your IE.

  • Confined water teaching presentations - part 1 (confined water)

Day 4:

  • Confined water teaching presentations - part 3 (confined water)
  • Confined water teaching presentations - part 4 (confined water)
  • The role of media and prescriptive teaching
  • The PADI Rescue Diver course
  • Business principles for the dive professional

Day 5:

  • Prescriptive teaching presentations - 1
  • Specialty diver course and MSDT
  • Legal responsibility and risk management
  • Conducting open water training dives
  • The PADI Dive Master course

Day 6:

  • Open water teaching presentations - 1 (open water)
  • Rescue diver course workshop (open water)
  • Dive theory exams

Day 7:

  • Open water teaching presentations - 2 (open water)
  • 800m mask, snorkel, fins swim
  • Adventure dive/Specialty dive workshop (open water)

Day 8:

  • Prescriptive teaching presentations - part 2
  • General standards and procedures exams
  • Emergency First Response program orientation
  • Dive equipment/sales orientation & PADI equipment specialty
  • Work place Health and Safety presentation
  • Instructor exams orientation

Requirements

  • Proof of at least 6 months as a certified diver
  • Dive Master member with a minimum of 100 logged dives
  • Minimum age is 18 years, with no maximum age
  • A first aid (resuscitation) certificate less than 2 years old
  • Dive medical less than 12 months old

Please Note: In the interests of safety we recommend that you should not fly or go to any altitude over 300m within 24 hours after your last dive. All prices are in Australian Dollars.

Cancellation policy

A $300 cancellation fee will apply if a cancellation is made less than two weeks prior to course commencement date
