Fitzroy Island is approximately 35km, or 45 minutes southeast of Cairns. It is a "Continental" or "High" island made out of granite, and is surrounded by a beautiful fringing reef full of colourful marine life.
Diving off the island differs from the outer reefs and offers diversely different formations and marine life. The islands dive shop caters for experienced and novice divers as well as snorkellers. A day diving from Fitzroy Island is an exceptionally good option for those who do not fancy being on board a vessel all day, and like to stretch the legs between dives.
