You can enjoy a whole day on Green Island and experience the fringing reefs of the Great Barrier Reef. Located just 15 nautical miles (27kilometres) offshore from Cairns in Australia’s World Heritage listed Great Barrier Reef, Green Island is a beautiful coral cay which enjoys world acclaim as a tropical paradise. Discover the fascinating underwater world among coral reefs surrounding beautiful Green Island. Part of a protected Marine Park, these waters are home to an abundance of tropical sea life where you will see endless varieties of colourful fish, turtles, giant clams, starfish, shells, anemones, eels, sponges and many more incredible marine creatures.
Tropical and enchanting Green Island is an idyllic coral cay where you can relax on the beautiful white sandy beach or explore the walking tracks that lead you through the emerald island rainforest of the National Park. A coral cay is a build up of rubble and sediments from thousands of years of wave actions surrounding the reefs. Seeds and spores carried by the wind and birds his fertilized the island and enabled the growth of plant life.
Visitors can browse through the shops of Green Island Resort or make use of the facilities including fresh water showers, change rooms and rest rooms.
